UNICEF receives €6 million to strengthen nutrition and access to water in Haiti

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) received €6 million from the European Union (EU) to strengthen nutrition and access to water, hygiene and sanitation in Haiti, through two projects. These two projects are financed to the tune of €3 million each, by the European Development Fund (EDF), over a period of three years. They will be implemented in particular in the Northwest, Northeast and Artibonite departments, within the framework of the Multisectoral Food and Nutrition Security Program.

Nutrition

  • 38,498 children aged 6 to 59 months with severe acute malnutrition admitted for treatment
  • 57,519 children aged 6 to 59 months with moderate acute malnutrition admitted for treatment
