The Digicel Foundation inaugurates its 186th modern school and maintains its commitment to education

On Friday, August 27, 2021, the Digicel Foundation handed over the keys to the Camp-Coq national school to the authorities of the municipality of Limbé.

The brand new construction meets all seismic and paracyclonic standards, according to Mr. Fritz Gérald Joseph from the Digicel Foundation.

This last school building is the 186th of the Digicel Foundation, which recently announced a commitment of US$1 million to help rebuild schools in the far South destroyed by the earthquake of August 14, 2021.

In a tweet, Mr. Jean Philippe Brun, the director of operations of the company promises that the Foundation will continue to work to enhance education in the country and noted that of the 35 schools built by the Digicel Foundation in the far south, none of them suffered structural damage, either the earthquake or Storm Grace two days later. This demonstrates the Foundation’s concern to ensure the quality and safety of children and teachers in these buildings.

For her part, the director of the Foundation, Sophia Stransky, stressed that “the Digicel Foundation, since its beginnings in Haiti, has promoted quality education by facilitating students’ access to adequate buildings that meet seismic and paracyclonic standards. To date, 62,000 students enjoy the schools built by the Digicel Foundation.”
