Volunteer doctors honored at the HUEH

The management of the Hospital of the State University of Haiti honored the doctors (interns and residents) who flew to the rescue of the victims of the earthquake of August 14, 2021 in the far South.

They are interns, residents, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals. Less than forty-eight hours after the devastating earthquake that ravaged the far south, the first medical assessments and first aid were provided by a group of volunteer health professionals from the HUEH.

For Dr Jessie Colimon Adrien, this tribute ceremony is an act of encouragement to all these professionals who have literally given themselves to the service of others.

It is also the occasion, she adds, to congratulate the professors, in particular the doctors on duty at the HUEH, the pharmaceutical companies and other companies, the community leaders and all those who have helped these professionals to the accomplishment of their tasks.

Receiving an Honor and Merit certificate for their bravery, these health professionals have made a commitment to remain at the service of the population, especially in difficult times.

The ULCC on the ground to detect acts of corruption in aid management

The Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) is strengthening its surveillance in the departments of the Far South affected by the earthquake of August 14, 2021.

Hans Jacques Ludwig Joseph Director General of the ULCC, on tour in the far South said and we quote “[…] it is imperative that the funds and assets mobilized to respond to this disaster situation effectively go to the affected populations and be subject to sound, transparent, honest and responsible management […] We are accompanied by a team of investigators who will remain on site to strengthen our presence on the ground. ”

ULCC is inviting  the population of the far South to call the 5656 number free of charge from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. to denounce suspicions or indications of corruption that they could witness,” said Me Joseph. Only sworn ULCC officers will have access to these anonymous denunciations so it is completely secure.”
