10 people were arrested by the Haitian Police in Croix-des-bouquets on September 4, 2021. Those people were arrested during a police operation in the area. Many stolen car keys were taken. One police officer and 10 alleged gang members were injured.
Other materials were taken such as phones and cartridge of different caliber. During the operation, the Haitian Police said that they (gang members) retaliate with fire causing several injured people . This operation took place because of the many issues members of the gang <<400 mawozo>> have been causing in Croix-des-bouquets for many days. They are mostly based there.
On June 26, 2021, members of <<400 mawozo>> started a raid in the commune. They had heavy guns and they fired for several long hours. They also burnt cars, approximately 10. They left the residents of Croix-des-bouquets terrified. A video of the act recorded by one the follower of “L’église de Dieu de Béthel” is available online.
The <<400 mawozo gang>> have committed many odious crimes since early this year. They are responsible for the death of many police officers such as Gabo désiré, kidnapping, killing, raping many people in Haiti. They were responsible of the kidnapping of seven catholics whom came in Haiti in April 2021; they were liberated after many demands.
We are slowly witnessing how gangs are taking over the Haitian population. Since here, the police says they are determined to stop them but nothing seems to work. Quick decisions to stop this scrounge must be taken before it gets worse than how it actually is.
