The film Haiti «Freda» Prize for the best film TV5 Quebec-Canada

The Haitian film “Fréda” by director Gessica Geneus, Produced by Ayizan Prod of Haiti, Sanosi Prod (France) and Merveille Prod (Benin) won the TV5 Quebec-Canada Best Film Award at the closing ceremony of the 27th edition of the CINEMANIA film festival in Montreal.

For a rare time in its history, the jury awarded the prize to two tied films: “Petite Nature” by French director Samuel Theis with a touching cast, a precious look at the country’s youth and a rare female point of view on its society and the Haitian movie and  “Freda” about childhood struggles, with an exceptional young actor of magnificent beauty and incredible character.

The feature film “Freda” could compete at the Oscars 2022 since it already met all the application criteria and has been widely acclaimed by critics and won several accolades, including the Special Mention of the François Chalais Prize at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
