The Bahamas closes its Embassy in Port-au-Prince

The Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs has temporarily closed its Embassy in Haiti.

In a statement, the Bahamian Government indicated that the diplomatic staff of its Embassy in Haiti were back in the Bahamas.

“This decision was taken because of great caution and the Government’s serious concern about the deteriorating security situation in Haiti,” declared Deputy Frederick A. Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service,

Embassy security attachés remain in Haiti and will help monitor the current situation in the country.

Is this the start of closure of more embassies in Haiti?
