Japan hands over equipment to Haiti’s Ministry of Agriculture

The Japanese Ambassador, Mitsuaki Mizuno, at a ceremony held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Agriculture in Damien on September 3, handed over a large batch of agricultural equipment to the Minister of Agriculture, of Natural Resources and Rural Development, Bredy Charlot. Composed of twenty-two agricultural tractors and a drill, this equipment, according to the minister, should contribute to improving agricultural productivity and revitalizing rural areas by opening up agricultural roads.

This support is part of an economic and social program supported by Japan to the tune of 500 million yen, or 4.4 million US dollars divided into two equal parts between the ministries of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Development. rural (MARNDR) and Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC).

The Japanese ambassador, Mitsuaki Mizuno, while wishing a good management of this material, believes that this support should, among other things, contribute to an increase in food availability in the country and at the same time participate in improving the food security of the Haitian population. He took the opportunity to guarantee the support of his country to Haiti in its journey towards sustainable development, in particular in the achievement of Objective two of the SDGs which concerns the eradication of hunger, the improvement of food security. and nutrition, and the promotion of sustainable agriculture.
