Friday, September 24, 2021 at a press conference, American President Joe Biden strongly condemned the “horrible” treatment suffered by Haitian migrants gathered along the US-Mexico border, promising consequences for the border patrol agents on horseback which were photographed repelling migrants using aggressive methods.
Biden was quoted saying: “It’s scandalous. I promise you these people will pay,” and “There will be consequences […] “It’s an embarrassment, it’s beyond an embarrassment. It’s dangerous, it’s wrong. It sends the wrong message around the world. It sends the wrong message at home. It’s simply not who we are. […]” said the US President.
We’re glad to hear this cause this was indeed a bad image sent to the world and an offence for the black community to witness such barbaric acts being repeated. However, this will also entail increased asylum which would be the more positive outcome for these people who risked their lives on such a journey.
