The Technical Operation Center (CTE), which is a joint agency of USAID and the Haitian governement focused on improving water access and quality in Haiti, started to use a new mobile application to record water meter readings in Ouanaminthe.
Now, three technicians, using the mobile app, can perform water metering and data entry in Ouanaminthe in just 10 days, a process that previously took between four to six weeks.
This initiative contributes to strengthening the governance of the sector by increasing the capacity of local water services to manage water resources and therefore improve the quality of public services.
Ultimately, this initiative will be rolled out in all of Haiti’s major cities, and is the exact sort of leveraging technology to improve government administration we really needed in Haiti.
